Were you there to witness who would be crowned the 2014/2015 Kenya Cup Rugby League champions…? Across from where all the action was taking place the ladies were enjoying their day in groups sipping drinks. While their adrenaline-rush men cheered to both rugby teams trying to make a try, their ladies were speaking in low-tones of gossip.
The ladies donning the green Kabras Sugar rugby jerseys were the loudest among the audience, making a scream for it whenever a player made a fast-paced move across the field in an effort to make a try.
Kabras team is sponsored by an Asian-Kenyan family who also own the Kabras Sugar Company. The male members of the family enjoyed bottles of Heineken as they cheered on their team from the VIP tents.
“We will definitely be back next year,” said the team’s manager.
After the match, the gents join the ladies for a drink from the bar. Music blasting from the various stands encouraged some little ‘getting down’ from the ladies bring an end to a splendid Saturday evening.
